Kyung Hee University has achieved a significant milestone in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, ranking 252nd globally and 5th among comprehensive universities in Korea. Climbing 33 places from the previous year, this achievement highlights Kyung Hee’s growing influence as one of the top universities in South Korea.

The university’s rise is driven by a marked improvement in research quality. The Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI), a key indicator of global research influence, rose to 1.42 in 2024, meaning Kyung Hee’s papers are cited 42% more often than the global average. Notably, the university ranked third domestically for papers in the top 10% for citation impact, showcasing both quantitative and qualitative growth.
Kyung Hee continues to lead in diverse fields such as Medicine, Engineering, and Basic Sciences. The university has produced world-class research in digital health, oncology, and next-generation semiconductors. A decisive factor in this success is internationalization. The proportion of internationally co-authored papers has reached 38.1%. The recently opened International Center for Quantum Matter, featuring Nobel laureate Konstantin Novoselov, exemplifies this commitment to global collaboration.
Looking ahead, Kyung Hee is accelerating its transformation into a "true university of the future." To bridge the gap with the global elite, the university is spearheading an AI Transition (AX), establishing a dedicated AI Committee and an Institutional Research (IR) Center to drive data-based innovation.
